Explore the complexities of local sourcing for restaurateurs and farmers

The Mohawk Valley Economic Development District, Inc. (MVEDD), in partnership with Visit Schoharie County and the Office for Agricultural Development of Schoharie County, is excited to announce the upcoming "Field to Fork Forum" to be held from 1-4 pm March 4th at the Mill Pond Inn & Tavern in Jefferson, NY. This pivotal event marks one of the key agribusiness panels organized under the Mohawk Valley Farm and Agribusiness Network (MVFAN), a new initiative aimed at strengthening the region's agricultural sector.

This forum is poised to bring together farmers, processors, distributors, retailers, restaurateurs, and various other stakeholders in the agribusiness sector. It is a unique opportunity to explore the vital connections within our local food system, discuss challenges, and discover new opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Event Highlights:

  • Expert Panels and Discussions: Keynote speakers and panelists will delve into topics such as grant and loan opportunities, including insights from NYS Grown & Certified and the US Department of Agriculture.

  • Introduction to AgriSmart: A special presentation by MVEDD on connecting farmers to energy efficiency and technical support.

  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with local farmers' markets, state, and county agribusiness groups, and other key players in the agricultural sector.

  • Resource Access: Learn about simplifying the process of accessing state and local funding programs for agribusinesses.

Nickolas Kossmann from the Office of Agricultural Development highlights the importance of this event, stating, "MVFAN is bridging the gap by bringing all these programs and opportunities together in one place, thereby assisting local farmers and agribusiness owners in realizing their projects."

Heather Devitt of MVEDD adds, "The Mohawk Valley’s agricultural sector is poised for significant growth. Through MVFAN, we aim to connect agribusinesses to funding and programs that will create a more vibrant and sustainable agricultural ecosystem."

The Field to Fork Forum is more than an event; it's the beginning of a collaborative journey towards a more resilient and prosperous agricultural future in the Mohawk Valley. If you are a farmer, restaurateur, retailer or other stakeholder in the agricultural sector and to register, please check the event hosted on the Visit Schoharie County Facebook page event, or VisitSchoharieCounty.com/blogs/Field-To-Fork .
